Tony Shin is an American multiple Emmy award-winning journalist working for NBC4 serving as a general assignment reporter. He has been working for the station since 2013.

Shin serves as the NBC4 Inland Empire Bureau Chief, covering stories throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties for the NBC4 News at 11 a.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. She has covered several notable stories with national ramifications, including the 2015 San Bernardino terrorist attack and the capture of Christopher Dorner, for which he provided numerous live reports for NBC stations across the country.

He was also honored for obtaining an exclusive interview with one of the injured victims of a deadly tour bus accident in San Bernardino, California, in 2013. Shin has received numerous Emmy nominations for her work in breaking news, investigative reporting, general assignment reporting, on-camera talent, and team coverage. He has also received ten Golden Mike awards, one of which was for writing.

Shin is passionate about giving back to the community and has volunteered to emcee several events, including the CASA of San Bernardino County’s “Care for Kids Run/Walk” and the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley’s “Walk for the Animals.”

Shin spent nearly ten years as a general assignment reporter for NBC’s San Diego affiliate, KNSD-TV. He began his on-air career at KTVN-TV in Reno and then spent two years reporting at WAGA-TV in Atlanta. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, watching sports on TV, and eating Korean food.

Shin earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Nevada. The Radio Corporation of America founded NBC in 1926, making it the country’s oldest major broadcast network. General Electric was RCA’s parent company at the time. As a result of antitrust charges, GE was forced to sell RCA and NBC in 1932.

General Electric regained control of NBC in 1986 when it paid $6.4 billion for RCA. GE began liquidating RCA’s various divisions immediately but retained NBC. Following the acquisition by GE, Bob Wright was named CEO of NBC, a position he held until his retirement in 2007 when he was succeeded by Jeff Zucker.
