Rishi Kapoor Biography
Rishi Kapoor was an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi cinema. He received the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his debut role in his father Raj Kapoor’s 1970 film Mera Naam Joker. He had his first lead role as an adult, opposite Dimple Kapadia, in the film Bobby (1973), which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
He played leading roles as the romantic lead in 92 films between 1973 and 2000. For his performance in Do Dooni Chaar (2010), he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor, and for his role in Kapoor & Sons (2016), he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. He was honored with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. He appeared opposite his wife Neetu Singh (married 1980) in 12 films between 1973 and 1981. He died on 30 April 2020 from complications of bone marrow cancer, aged 67.

Rishi Kapoor was born Rishi Raj Kapoor, in Chembur, Bombay, in a Punjabi Hindu family. He was the second son of actor-director Raj Kapoor and his wife Krishna Raj Kapoor (née Malhotra). Kapoor’s first on-screen appearance was a cameo at around age three, in the song “Pyar Hua, Iqrar Hua Hai”, in his father Raj Kapoor’s Shree 420. He debuted in Raj Kapoor’s 1970 film Mera Naam Joker, portraying the childhood of the latter’s character. He played his first leading role, opposite Dimple Kapadia, in the 1973 film Bobby, also directed by his father. About the making of Bobby, he said in a 2012 interview, “There was a misconception that the film was made to launch me as an actor. The film was actually made to pay the debts of Mera Naam Joker. Dad wanted to make a teenage love story and he did not have money to cast Rajesh Khanna in the film”.[6] The film went on to become one of the decade’s biggest hits in India and earned him the Filmfare Best Actor Award.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, one of the most celebrated Bollywood actors passed away this morning after a reported cancer relapse. He was 67.
The news comes right after we lost Irrfan Khan due to a colon infection.
The actor was last night admitted to a hospital after he complained of ill-health. His brother, actor Randhir Kapoor gave a statement to the media, refuting any problems:
“He is in the hospital. He is suffering from cancer and he has some breathing problems, so he has been admitted to the hospital. He is stable now,”
Rishi is survived by his wife, Neetu Kapoor,and his two children, Ranbir and Riddhima Kapoor.
What we know so far
Rishi Kapoor’s health has been in troubled water for a while now. In 2018, he was diagnosed with a form of cancer and immediately shifted to New York for the treatment. Although the family never disclosed the exact details of his treatment or diagnosis, they did speak up at great lengths about undergoing a tough time through the later months. Rishi Kapoor admitted that he was undergoing treatment for his He went at length to talk about “marrow” problems.
In the start of this year again, Rishi Kapoor experienced some breathing difficulties and was quietly admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he was placed under the nsive care of specialist doctors. The actor’s health has been keeping his family and friends anxious for a while. It has been long reported that the actor was in a mode of denial and not accepting his problems. A source said:
“I was running a slight fever and on the investigation, Dr.s found a patch which could have lead to pneumonia, was detected and is being cured. People seem to have assumed a lot differently. I put to rest all those stories and look forward to entertain and love you. I am now in Mumbai.”
It is rather sad considering the way Rishi always spoke about things in a positive attitude. The very last interview, he spoke about his health, saying:
“When we say bad days, we don’t mean I had some invasive surgery or bad pain. Nothing of the sort. It was just …people have issues with their kidney, they have problems with liver or heart, I had a marrow problem and I had to get it rectified. So there is nothing such as a serious issue. Just that between two treatments, there was a long gap and during that time, as she (Neetu) said, we just went out and around town. You are doing nothing, you cannot fly or travel distances. I have gone through treatment and thankfully it is successful. Thank you for the great and lovely blessings and duas of all my friends and family and fans..I really thank all of them that we had the courage to sail through.”

Kapoor family to take legal action against person who filmed Rishi Kapoor’s last video
Late Rishi Kapoor’s family are looking at taking legal action against the person who shot the video of the actors dying moments.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the unethical and illegal video was apparently shot by a ward boy at the hospital, violates the actor’s private space is a straight case of a law-breaking public servant misusing his power for self-advancement.
A source close to the Kapoor family says they are looking at taking legal action against the offender.
He says the family is in a different frame of mind right now but once there is some respite from the tragedy on hand, they will certainly take action against the ward boy.
Fans and friends of Rishi Kapoor sincerely advocate strong judicial measures against such brutal violation of a dying individual’s private space.
