Louis Theroux also known as Louis Sebastian Theroux is a British-American broadcaster, documentary filmmaker, and author. He is known for his documentaries with the BBC such as Louis Theroux’s Weird Weekends, African Hunting Holiday, and Behind Bars.

Louis grew up along with his older brother, Marcel Theroux who is a television presenter and writer. In addition, he is also a cousin to Justin, a screenwriter and actor, and nephew to Peter Theroux, and Alexander Theroux.

His paternal grandfather, Albert Eugène Theroux was a French-Canadian salesman while his grandmother Anne Dittami was an Italian-American grammar school teacher. Louis also holds dual citizenship of American and British.

Theroux has been married twice and he is currently married to Nancy Strang. The couple tied the knot on July 13, 2012, and together they have three children. He and his family reside in West London. Before marrying Nancy, Louis was married to Susanna Kleeman from 1998 to 2001. After the couple divorced, Therous opened up and said that their marriage was not legal as he was helping her because she was in trouble.

Theroux started his career as a journalist at Metro Silicon Valley. Later on, he was hired as a weekly newspaper at Spy and then he moved and joined Michael Moore’s TV Nation series where he served as a presenter. There, Louis covered major news including the Ku Klux Klan rebranding itself as a civil rights group for white people, the Jerusalem syndrome, and selling Avon to women in the Amazon Rainforest.

After that, Theroux moved and signed a contract with BBC News where he hosted Louis Theroux’s Weird Weekends. He also worked with other publications like The Idler and Hip Hop Connection. In 2020, Louis began the BBC Radio 4 podcast Grounded with Louis Theroux where he addressed issues regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Two years later, he hosted The Louis Theroux Podcast a deal with Spotify.

Besides this, Louis is also the author of three books, and the first was released in 2005 called The Call of the Weird: Travels in American Subcultures. The second was Gotta Get Theroux This which was published in September 2019 followed by Theroux the Keyhole released in November 2021. Over his career, Theroux has received various awards including a Royal Television Society Television Award and two British Academy Television Awards.
