It was announced in mid-March that Apa’s CW series Riverdale was shutting down production due to the coronavirus outbreak, after someone working on the show was in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
‘The team member is currently receiving medical evaluation,’ a Warner Bros. Television rep told Deadline in a statement. With production shut down, the season was shortened to 19 episodes, down from 22 episodes in the past two seasons.
The Season 4 finale will air Wednesday, May 6 at 8 PM ET on The CW Network.
The hit series, based on the Archie Comics, was already renewed for a fifth season on The CW Network back in January, though, due to COVID-19, it remains unclear when filming will begin on the new season.
Aside from his work on Riverdale, Apa also starred in the movie I Still Believe, portraying Christian music star Jeremy Camp in this true story adaptation.
The film was among the last to be released in theaters before practically every theater across the country was shut down due to COVID-19.
He has also starred in movies such as Alter Rock, The Last Summer and The Hate U Give.
‘We are working closely with the appropriate authorities and health agencies in Vancouver to identify and contact all individuals who may have come into direct contact with our team member,” the statement continued.
