On top of this, he also appeared in film and TV series like Level Up, When the Game Stands Tall, Survivor’s Remorse, and in a documentary series Teenage.

In 2016, Usher was cast as a member in the film Independence Day: Resurgence. The following year, he played opposite Kimberly Elise and Danny Glover in a comedy-drama Almost Christmas. His popularity increased when he portrayed Samuel L. Jackson in the 1971 film Shaft. As of 2018, Jessie was featured in the Amazon Studios series The Boys, where he played as a Reggie Franklin. Later on, he appeared alongside Camila Mendes in the Netflix film Dangerous Lies in 2020. Most recently, he starred in the horror film Smile which was released in September 2022.
