Chris Cimino Biography

Chris Cimino is an American Meteorologist who was on WNBC television’s early-morning news program, Today in New York in New York City, New York. He also appeared as a substitute meteorologist for the NBC network’s Today program.

He joined WNBC in December 1995. Previously, Cimino worked at WTXF-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was the weekend meteorologist since January 1995. Prior to that, he worked as a meteorologist in the Cincinnati, Ohio, on the radio and television market with Compu-Weather and Metro Weather Service, and WROC-TV in Rochester, New York. He also worked for the New York Yankees baseball outfit on September 20, 2004.

The thought came after Cimino lost a bet to his eleven-year-old neighbor in which the Mets would need to win at least seventy-five games; the Mets were unsuccessful.  The report finished with Cimino’s partner, sportscaster Otis Livingston, hindering while dressed as the Mr. Met mascot, “beating up” Cimino.

Cimino served as a meteorologist for NBC 4 New York’s morning show “Today in New York” which airs at 4:30 a.m. – 7 a.m. weekdays. He joined NBC 4 as a weekend meteorologist in December 1995 coming from WTXF-TV in Philadelphia.

He was also the weekday weather anchor for the morning and noon newscasts on WLWT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, Ohio.

His most memorable moments at NBC include covering landfall and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina for the Today Show while filling in for Al Roker.

Cimino left NBC on July 2nd 2019. On June 24, 2019, he announced that he was leaving the NBC flagship station to begin a new adventure– which includes one of his passions, travel. He summed up his experience at News 4 New York:

Before leaving, a get together was held in his honor on Friday, June 28th at Faces and Names on 159 W. 54th Street. from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Beyond forecasting, Cimino interviewed countless celebrities— highlighted by a one-on-one with singer Elton John, a moment he calls a dream come true.

His final day at WNBC was July 2, 2019. His replacement, Maria LaRosa started work on July 29, 2019.
