Granda began his career in television news as an associate producer at WINK-TV, a CBS affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida. Later, he was hired as a full-time reporter by the station. Granda joined Miami-based WLTV-TV in 1985 and covered a number of major events, including Queen Elizabeth’s visit to the Bahamas, the Centennial of the Statue of Liberty in New York, and the crash of a Delta plane in Dallas. Granda left WLTV-TV after two years to cover Central American issues at ABC-TV affiliate WPLG-TV in Miami.
Granda moved to WABC-TV in New York in 1990 to work as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for “Eyewitness News This Morning.” In late 1993, he joined New York-based WNBC-TV as its New Jersey correspondent. Granda returned to Miami in 1995 to work as an anchor at WFOR-TV, a CBS affiliate. In April 1998, he began working for ABC7 as a general assignment reporter. He won an Emmy for his “My Home is the Street” documentary series about the homeless.
